One of Ippodo's flagship premium matchas is Ummon, a powerful, complex, and satisfying blend recommended for matcha enthusiasts. The 20-gram size of Ummon provides around 10 standard servings, allowing you to experience its full nuances when prepared as either a regular matcha (usucha) or thick matcha (koicha) drink.

When preparing Ummon or any Ippodo matcha, be sure to sift the dry powder before adding hot water (around 176°F) and whisk vigorously for just 15 seconds. Whisking for too long can result in a bitter taste. The classic bamboo whisk, or chasen, is the ideal tool for achieving a well-mixed, fragrant matcha.
