Crafted for Every Level of Matcha Drinker: A Premium, Ceremonial-Grade Matcha Experience
Our matcha is designed to deliver a premium, ceremonial-grade matcha experience for matcha drinkers at all levels. Rich in umami flavor, it harmoniously blends toasty notes with a nutty-like aroma, and the stone-milling process ensures a smooth, creamy, and easy-to-whisk texture.
Direct from Source: A 3rd Generation Family Farm in Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan
Our matcha is directly sourced from a 3rd generation family farm located in the lush hillsides of Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan. The clay-rich soil of this region is optimal for cultivating the green tea leaves that ultimately become our ceremonial-grade matcha.
Superior Cultivation: The Okumidori Cultivar
The Okumidori Cultivar, a remarkable blend of Yabukita and Shizuoka Zairai tea plants, is the foundation of our premium matcha. This well-balanced cultivar delivers a delightful combination of umami, a touch of astringency, and a refreshing, elegant aroma.
Traditionally Harvested: A Rigorous Process to Preserve Freshness
Tea leaves are plucked once a year in May during peak harvest season. After being picked, the leaves undergo a rigorous process of steaming, drying, sifting, and cutting to prevent oxidation, ensuring the freshness and quality of the final matcha powder.
Freshness Guaranteed: Air-Freighted Directly from Japan
The leaves are stone-ground into a fine powder, sealed in airtight bags, and placed inside Dona tea tins. We air-freight our matcha directly from Japan, shortening shipping times from 3-4 months to several weeks. To maintain freshness, we recommend storing the matcha in the refrigerator.
Matcha Preparation: Crafted for the Perfect Cup
For the best matcha experience, we suggest using a wide-mouth, ceramic or porcelain bowl, and a matcha whisk made from white bamboo to thoroughly combine the matcha powder with water without scratching the bowl.
Enjoying Matcha: Hot or Iced, Lattes or Pure
To make a traditional matcha, scoop 1 tsp (2 g) of matcha into your bowl, add 2.5 ounces of 170°F hot water, and whisk vigorously until the matcha is frothy and combined. For an iced matcha latte, pour the whisked matcha into a glass of ice, add 6 oz of milk of your choice, and stir. For a hot matcha latte, add the whisked matcha to a mug and top with 6 oz of hot or steamed milk.
